Canadian hockey equipment manufacturer and household name to all hockey fans, Bauer, has offered to modify production lines, to make protective visors for doctors, nurses and first responders dealing with the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.

With alterations to Bauer’s production lines, the company will be able to produce an estimated 2,000 protective face masks per day. The masks will be single use, full face shielding, anti fogging protectants.

Statement from Bauer Hockey via Twitter;

Protection that allows athletes to give everything for their team is our heritage. Right now, we're all on the same team. We're repurposing our facilities to make face shields so that medical professionals battling COVID-19 can safely continue to help those most vulnerable.

Bauer also noted in a statement that the company is working on developing a medical visor that can be cleaned, disinfected and reused, as to cut down on material waste.

Following the offer from Bauer, Dan Bourgeois, vice-president of product innovation, said the company has received interest about the proposal from Montreal police, firefighters and hospitals.

Bourgeois commented on the offer;

We say we're a protective company.… Then why aren't we starting to [make] protection for our doctors, nurses, hospitals, and their needs?

"I contacted my CEO [Ed Kinnaly] and he said, 'Hey, Dan, you have carte blanche. Go do it.

Since the initial offer, Bauer has received the green light from necessary government agencies, and is set to begin production as an essential business. They will attempt to fill an order of 200,000+ protective masks for aid in the Quebec area.
