Chicago Blackhawks forward Jonathan Toews is donating $100,000 towards a COVID-19 response fund in Chicago. The team announced early on Thursday that the donation is coming from Toew’s personal foundation.

It is intended to help citizens around Chicago who are vulnerable to the Coronavirus outbreak. The foundation is based off of nonprofit organizations that act in areas of public health, social and economic consequences that have occurred due to the virus.

There is no surprise to see Toews step up for something like this. The long time Blackhawks captain has always been known for being an extremely classy and modest player, and this gesture further proves that point. He was yet again having a fantastic season before the NHL was suspended due to the outbreak, notching 18 goals and 60 points through 70 games.
