On what would have been Opening Day for Major League Baseball, St. Louis Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright and his wife Jenny are doing their part in helping minor leaguers. The Wainwright's are donating $250K to help aid the minor leaguers in the Cardinals organization.

This donation from Wainwright follows the MLB plan to help compensate minor leaguers during the suspension due to COVID-19. The MLB and and its teams are still working towards how to pay their minor league players as this pause from baseball continues.

Wainwright has established himself as an extremely generous player throughout his career. He founded the nonprofit organization, Big League Impact -an organization that's goal is to "save lives, restore dignity, and instil hope in local communities around the globe."

He has played for the Cardinals for the entirety of his 14 year career, including a World Series win in 2006.
