VICTOR OLOFSSON'S BROTHER REPORTEDLY CLOSE TO JOINING THE SABRES

Victor Olofsson may soon be joined on the Buffalo Sabres by his brother Jesper. That's according to reports out of Europe.

"Yes, I actually signed a contract last week," the older Olofsson brother told a sports oulet in Sweden. I can't say with which club, but it's a foreign club and it should become official pretty soon."

The outlet, Värmlands Folkblad, is saying Jesper will join his brother Victor with the Buffalo Sabres.

Jesper Olofsson has never been drafted by an NHL team. The 28-year-old winger has spent the past five seasons in the Swedish Hockey League, the last two with Farjestads BK Karlstad. His best season was in 2018-19 when he put up 17 goals and 33 assists in 51 games. This season, he had tied his career high of 17 goals and had 28 points in 44 games before the league suspended play on March 15th.

Victor Olofsson, 24, had been enjoying an excellent and surprising first full season in the NHL before the shutdown was implemented on March 12th. The former seventh-round pick had 20 goals and 42 points in 56 games. Before 2019-20, he had played just six games in the NHL.

Jesper and Victor Olofsson are the step-brothers of former NHLers Brian and Stephen Gionta.
