NHL AGENTS RATE THE BEST AND WORST CONTRACT IN THE LEAGUE

NHL website Puckpedia.com recently polled 25 player agents around the league on a variety of topics around the league. One of these topics included voting on the best and worst value contract in the entire league.

Non-surprisingly, Milan Lucic’s was voted on by the majority of agents as being the worst deal in the NHL. Lucic is on a deal paying him $6 million per season, and still has three seasons left on it. His production has dropped off at an alarming rate the past few seasons, as the one-time dominant power forward has had just 20 points in each of the last two seasons. Other names who got voted for worst value contract were Brent Seabrook, Erik Karlsson, and Jeff Skinner.

As for the best value contract, there are a few names that come to mind for everyone, but Nathan MacKinnon won the vote. MacKinnon is on a deal that pays him just $6.3 million per season and also has three years remaining. He is one of the league's best players but certainly does not get paid like it. The 24-year-old had 93 points in 68 games this season, prior to the league being suspended. Other names on this list included David Pastrnak, Calle Jarnkrok, and Kevin Labanc.
