JOURNEYMAN NHLER EXPECTED TO SIGN IN SWITZERLAND

According the Swiss Hockey News, journeyman forward Brian Gibbons has a deal in place with Lausanne HC of the National League (NL).

The NL is the top league in Switzerland and has become one of the better European professional hockey leagues over the years. Gibbons, 32, is likely finished as an NHL player. The American born forward appeared in 15 games with the Carolina Hurricanes this season, but was unable to put up a point. He also played 26 games with the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL, posting four goals and 18 points.

Gibbons has played a total of 204 regular season NHL games, and an additional 10 playoff games. His best stint in the NHL came during the 2017-18 season, where he scored 12 goals and 26 points in 59 games with the New Jersey Devils. He also played for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Columbus Blue Jackets, Anaheim Ducks, and the Ottawa Senators. Gibbons, who was undrafted, managed 25 goals and 42 assists over his 204 regular season games, along with two goals and one assist in his 10 playoff games.
