RASMUS DAHLIN: "NOT FUN TO BE SITTING HERE LIKE A LOSER"

Rasmus Dahlin will not be playing in the Stanley Cup playoffs this season. Instead, the Swedish star is building his physique on home turf.

When the playoffs resume in July, it will be without the Buffalo Sabres. Dahlin is not overly happy with that. In an interview with Johan Rylander of Goteborgsposten, Dahlin voices displeasure with the way the playoff format unfolded.

“It’s weird, actually. We had two fewer games played than Montreal - and three less points. The last game we were going to play before Corona came was against Montreal… so it could as well have been us sitting in that playoff spot.”

He continued: “It is what it is - and there is not much you can do about it. But now when all my hockey friends are going over I’m sitting at home like a loser. It tears on you and makes me very frustrated. It’s not fun.”

Dahlin is not letting the time off go to waste, however. Since he left Frolunda in the SHL, he’s gained 18 pounds, going from 187 to 205 lbs.

“I’ve been spending some time in the gym actually. I’m getting thick! I’ve been eating lots of food, I think. Chicken wings, haha. But I’ve said it in almost every interview… I’m leaving puberty, so it’s helped me. Buffalo has told me every year that i should add muscle.”

Regardless of whether the Sabres are in the run for the cup or not, Dahlin will make sure to be ready when next season starts.
