KENDALL COYNE SCHOFIELD CHANGES STANCE ON COLIN KAEPERNICK

With all that has transpired in the USA over the last week, many athletes are stepping forward with statements condemning racism and other acts of hate. Kendall Coyne Schofield was one of those athletes who sent out a message via Twitter, and hers was extremely powerful.

“I was one of the people who initially thought Colin Kaepernick kneeling was disrespectful. I reacted to WHAT he was doing instead of WHY. Then I listened and learned. Instead of just deleting a misinformed tweet I posted four years ago, I should’ve been clear back then and now – not just knowing it but I should’ve SAID it.

So let me be absolutely clear; It was NEVER about the flag. It was never about my family members who serve(d). It wasn’t about me. It always was and IS about George Floyd and the countless others who came before him. It’s about Justice and Equality. I know better. I will continue to DO better.”

Coyne Schofield, a professional hockey player and announcer of the San Jose Sharks, is a familiar name to many fans for taking place in the fastest skater competition during the 2019 NHL All-Star Game. She is just one of thousands of athletes who have released a statement on how everyone needs to do better, this all coming as a result of the tragic murder of George Floyd on May 25th
