BLUES COACH CRAIG BERUBE SAYS THEY ARE “IN A PRETTY GOOD SPOT” AND “HUNGRY” FOR THE STANLEY CUP

Coach Berube and the St. Louis Blues are ready to defend the Stanley Cup

On May 26, the NHL made the announcement of its Return to Play Plan, which is currently in Phase 1. Phase 2 does not have a determined start date, but it will allow players to work out in small groups at team facilities and will allow them to skate together. Phase 3 means full-team training and Phase 4 will be the official return to play.

The Blues finished the regular season with the highest points percentage in the Western Conference (.622). They managed to do so with their top offensive player, Vladimir Tarasenko, out for a large part of the season due to a shoulder injury. His last game played was on October 24. He has recovered and will rejoin the lineup when the Blues play in the Western Conference Seeding Round Robin.

“It’s like a big trade that you make and getting a great player,” Berube said. “We haven’t had him all year and our team’s been very successful. Now we got [Vladimir] coming back. He’s a great player for us, he’s done a great job working back, being in really good shape and being ready to go.”

The Blues will be joined by the Colorado Avalanche, Vegas Golden Knights, and Dallas Stars in the Western Conference Seeding Round Robin.

“It’s all an even playing field when we come back,” Berube said. “The team that wants to get out there and plays the hardest and plays at their pace is going to have the best chance.”
