FREDERIK ANDERSEN NOT 100 PERCENT SURE ABOUT NHL RETURNING

Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Frederik Andersen wants to get back to playing hockey. However, as many other players have done recently, he admits he is “not quite 100 percent confident yet” about the 2019-20 season resuming play.

“We don’t have enough information yet,” Andersen said in regards to the season returning. “The league and (NHLPA) are still ironing things out.”

Both the NHL and NHLPA announced earlier this month that training camps are expected to begin for teams on July 10. However, it is appearing now that returning will be decided upon by a player vote.

“I’m confident we’ll have something to vote on,” Andersen said. “I want to play. I don’t want to just sit and waste the summer and the season. Hopefully we’ll see soon.”

Andersen did however mention “future CBA stuff” as a big reason he wasn’t completely sold on a return. When asked which way he thinks he’d vote, he said: “I’ll make that decision when I get more info.”

This echoes a report by Montreal Canadiens reporter Eric Engels, which suggested many players are frustrated by the league's lack of communication on many questions they have regarding a potential return to play. What seemed like a near guaranteed return for the NHL weeks ago once again has many questions lingering.
