JETS ORGANIZATION SENDS SUPPORT OUT TO FRANCHISE ICON DALE HAWERCHUK

Speaking to the media Tuesday, Winnipeg Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff let it be known that his, along with the entire organization’s thoughts, are with Dale Hawerchuk.

“We as an organization are here to support (Dale) and wish him all the best. He’s one of our family,” Cheveldayoff said.

The 57-year-old Hawerchuk is battling a resurgence of his cancer, his son Eric posted to Twitter on Sunday. He had gone through his final round of chemotherapy back in April, and told reporters he was ‘doing well’ at the beginning of May. He was first diagnosed in August of 2019 with stomach cancer.

Hawerchuk is highly regarded as the best Winnipeg Jet of all time, spending 9 fantastic seasons with the team. He also played for the Buffalo Sabres, St. Louis Blues, and the Philadelphia Flyers. In 1188 regular season NHL games, he scored 518 goals and 1409 points. Our thoughts and prayers are with Hawerchuk and his family.
