NHL REVIEWS PLAY AFTER REAVES' HIT ON SCHMALTZ (W/VIDEO)

Ryan Reaves of the Vegas Golden Knights wasted no time making his presence felt as his team took on the Arizona Coyotes in exhibition action. Reaves would finish the match with a game-high six hits, one of which the NHL decided to take another look at.

With just under seven minutes to go in the second period, Reaves levelled Nick Schmaltz with what many felt was a high hit. Take a look:

The only penalty on the play was one to Reaves' teammate Zach Whitecloud, who was given two minutes for holding Schmaltz. Schmaltz went to the dressing room and didn't return.

According to NHL Insider John Shannon, the NHL did decide to take a look at the hit and ruled it was "unavoidable."

Arizona coach Rick Tocchet seemed none-to-pleased with the hit when he was asked about it post game. All he would say is that he saw it and Schmaltz would be evaluated on Friday.

Should Reaves have faced supplementary discipline for the hit on Schmaltz?
