HOCKEY FANS CELEBRATE ANNIVERSARY FOR HISTORICAL GAME

Hockey fans, both male and female were celebrating the 28th anniversary of Manon Rheaume's NHL game.

Manon Rheaume is a female canadian goaltender who is most notable for the being the first (and only) woman to play in an NHL game.

Rheaume played an exhibition game for the Tampa Bay Lightning against the St. Louis Blues on September 23, 2020. She let in two goals on nine shots in the first period. She also played an exhibition game against the Boston Bruins and played 24 games throughout the minor leagues.

Apart from the NHL, Rheaume also won the silver medal at the 1998 Nagano Olympics for Team Canada. She also won gold at the 1992 and 1994 IIHF Women's World Championships.



Apart from the NHL, she was also the first woman to ever play in a men's major junior league, when she played for the Trois-Rivieres Draveurs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL.)

In 2015, she dropped the puck for the ceremonial faceoff for the first game of the National Women's Hockey League. Today, she is the head coach for the Detroit Little Caesar's under 12 girls team.
