The Montreal Canadiens has a meeting scheduled with Matt Duchene

june 26, 2019
NHL teams are not idle at this time of the month. After having prepared and conducted the draft for their respective training, the GM’s are now evaluating who could join their group of players on July 1st when the free agency market opens.

Since June 23rd, the teams have been able to meet the players without it being qualified as poaching. Players therefore plan meetings with the teams they are interested in. According to TheFourthPeriod’s Editor-In-Chief David Pagnotta, one of the most prominent independent players in the next round, Matt Duchene, will meet the Canadiens by the end of the week.

Marc Bergevin will therefore be able to get a better idea of the 28-year-old's intentions. In 73 games last season, Duchene scored 70 points, 31 goals and 39 assists. He will certainly ask for a significant salary increase, having earned an average of $6 million over the past five years.
