Former NHLer stays in Europe, NHL career likely over

july 22, 2019
Tomas Plekanec is staying in the Czech Republic. After a disastrous start to the 2018-2019 season, having played only three games for the Montreal Canadiens, the veteran forward went back home to play for HC Kladno as well as playing some games with HC Brno Kometa to close out the campaign. It appears that there are no takers in the NHL for Plekanec, so he has signed a new one-year deal with Kometa.

At the age of 36, it appears that we will not see Plekanec in the NHL again. Having played in 1001 NHL games, his career totals stand at 233 goals and 375 assists. All but 17 games came with the Habs.
