Maroon won't be back with defending Stanley Cup champs

august 24, 2019
Forward Patrick Maroon will not be returning to the defending Stanley Cup champions, the St. Louis Blues. Instead, the 31-year-old has signed a one-year contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning worth $900,000.

Maroon played 74 games with St. Louis last season, scoring 10 goals and adding 18 assists. He added another three goals and four assists during the Blues' Stanley Cup run. Before last year, he had also spent time with New jersey, Edmonton and Anaheim. Over 448 NHL games, he has 88 goals and 118 assists for a total of 206 points.

According to CapFriendly. Tampa Bay had just over $9.3 million in cap space before signing Maroon, meaning the team has about $8.4 million left now. The Lightning still need to sign star restricted free agent Brayden Point.
