Tuesday's moves and news; injuries, a debut, a baby, and more

october 8, 2019
The Winnipeg Jets have recalled defencemen Sami Niku and Nelson Nogier from the Manitoba Moose of the AHL. They've also placed forward Bryan Little on injured reserve and given Dmitry Kulikov a personal leave from the team (reason not disclosed). Little being placed on IR is more of a paper move than anything and he could return to the team at any time. Little suffered a concussion after a collision with Luke Kunin of the Minnesota Wild during the final game of the preseason.

Meanwhile, the Jets blueline tonight will look more like something out of the AHL

In an update on the Evgeni Malkin situation, TSN's Darren Dreger says he suffered a "soft tissue injury" to his leg and he's expected to be out at least a month.

Alex Pietrangelo tallied his 400th career point with the Blues, scoring the go-ahead goal in Monday's 3-2 win over Toronto. He is now the 12th skater to record 400 Points for the Blues and only the 2nd defensemen. Al MacInnis was the first.

Per NHL.com's Brian Compton, New York Islanders prospect Noah Dobson is set to make his NHL debut this evening as the Isles host the Oilers.

Forward Gemel Smith of the Tampa Bay Lightning has been sent to Syracuse of the AHL. The move may be an indication of Brayden Point's imminent return as the star forward is now practicing with the team's top powerplay unit.

Mikko Koskinen will make his season debut with the Edmonton Oilers tonight, as will Riley Sheahan, who signed a one-year contract with Edmonton in the offseason. The Oilers are on Long Island to start a four game road trip.

San Jose's Evander Kane return to the lineup after Tuesday night after serving a three game suspension for abuse of an official in the last game of the preseason. The Sharks need all the firepower they can get right now after opening the season 0-3-0.

The New York Rangers have agreed to terms on an entry-level contract with defenseman Matthew Robertson. Robertson was selected by the Rangers in the second round, 49th overall, of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.

Tyler Bozak's wife has confirmed baby number three is on the way.
