Soccer legend wins his first game between the pipes for hockey team

october 13, 2019
Former Arsenal and Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech managed a win in his first ever game as a goaltender in Britain's National Ice Hockey League South 2. Cech's Guildford Phoenix topped the Swindon Wildcats 3-2 in a shootout, with Cech stopping two shootout attempts. Cech was named "Man of the Match" for his effort.

Cech, who remains an advisor with Chelsea, signed with the Guildford hockey club two weeks ago. While he dedicated his life to soccer, he grew up a major hockey fan in the Czech Republic and is an avid follower of the NHL. He had an astonishing soccer career, winning four FA Cups, four Premier League titles, three English League Cups, as well as winning the Champions League and the Europa League. He also holds the record for the most clean sheets in the Premier League.
