Robin Lehner gets brutally honest when discussing his current and former teams

4 novembre 2019
Goaltender Robin Lehner didn't hold back when discussing his current team, the Chicago Blackhawks, during a recent scrum with reporters. In the process, he took a bit of a shot at one of his former teams as well, although it's difficult to disagree with his assessment. It's no secret the Blackhawks have had a disappointing start to the season, with a 4-6-3 record so far. Asked how he was feeling, Lehner was very open about his team's struggles, comparing them to his time with the Buffalo Sabres.

"I played for arguably the worst defensive team in the league for three years in Buffalo," explained Lehner. "So, it's nothing new. And I put up good numbers there, no matter what anyone says. But again, I'm four years older, the read in my game is better."

Lehner added all he can do is hit the ice and try to play his best game, and he believes he's doing that right now.

Lehner has played 8 games with the Blackhawks so far this season, Despite a losing record of 3-2-2, his numbers are very good, posting a .939 save percentage and a 2.22 GAA.

The 28-year-old had gone through some tough years in Buffalo before signing a one-year deal with the New York Islanders last season. It was there that he would revive his career, playing 46 games and putting up a .930 save percentage and a 2.13 GAA. He also admitted to struggling with bipolar disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder, as well as alcohol and drug abuse before getting sober during the 2018 offseason.
