Sobotka badly injured after hit from Kucherov

9 novembre 2019
Buffalo's Vladimir Sobotka likely won't be in the Sabres lineup for a while after taking what appeared to be a late hit from Tampa Bay's Nikita Kucherov during the Global Series game Friday. Sobotka was following through on a shot in the offensive zone without the puck when Kucherov delivered a low-bridge hit, sending Sobotka over his back and onto the ice. The 32-year-old remained down while trainers came to tend to his injuries and help him to the locker room.

According to reporter John Vogl, Sobotka has a walking boot/air cast that goes from the foot all the way up above his right knee.

“He’s definitely not going to play tomorrow and ... I’d better not say anything else," said Sabres coach Ralph Krueger, who was clearly not happy about the hit that didn't even draw a penalty from the referees.

In 15 games with the Sabres so far this season, Sobotka has registered one goal and three points. He has also won 55.22 percent of his faceoffs, which ranks first on the team among skaters who have taken at least 20 faceoffs.

If you have not seen the hit in question yet, you can view it below. There is no word on any possible supplementary discipline for Kucherov.

Should Kucherov be suspended for the hit?
