Marner not travelling with Leafs to Chicago; scheduled for MRI

10 novembre 2019
Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Mike Babcock says star forward Mitch Marner is not travelling with the team to Chicago after suffering what appears to be an ankle injury in Saturday night's game against Philadelphia.

Meanwhile, TSN Insider Darren Dreger says Marner will get an MRI Sunday to determine the extent of the injury.

The injury occurred at the beginning of the 2nd period, in a somewhat innocent looking play where Marner, trying to push off, steps on Flyers forward Carsen Twarynski's stick and appears to fall awkwardly on his right knee/ankle. He left the game and would not return. The Leafs next couple of games are on the road as they face Chicago Sunday night and the New York Islanders Wednesday, before returning home to face Boston Friday.

The Leafs were hoping to enter this next week with a full healthy squad as winger Zach Hyman's return seems imminent. Hyman has not yet played this season after undergoing surgery for a torn ACL.
