Puljujarvi reveals plans to finish out the season in Finland no matter what

11 novembre 2019
Since he was drafted 4th overall by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2016 NHL entry draft, Puljujarvi struggled to land himself a permanent spot on the Oilers' roster, and he was never able to find his offensive game, scoring just 40 points 139 NHL games.

This past off-season, Puljujarvi made it clear that he wanted a change of scenery, and went on to a sign a one-year contract in Finland. The contract included an opt-out clause which would allow him to return to the NHL if a deal could be reached by Dec. 1.

The 21- year old winger revealed to Finnish reporter, Sami Hoffren, that he doesn't plan on returning to the NHL this season, and will play out the remainder of the season with Oulun Karpat regardless of whether he is traded to a new team.

"The 100 per cent focus is on playing in Oulu until the end of the season and being able to play a great season there," Puljujarvi said, via a translation

Puljujarvi currently sits 6th place in Liiga scoring, with 11 goals and 20 points in 18 games.
