Marner back at Leafs practice, nearing a return to the lineup

A little over three weeks removed from a high-ankle sprain, suffered during a match up against the Philadelphia Flyers, Mitch Marner has returned to regular Maple Leafs practice.


Marner had been skating, previously, with Trevor Moore in advance of regular practices.

Marner can be seen in the clip below, provided by The Athletic's Jonas Siegel, moving full speed during a shooting drill.

This is excellent news for the Maple Leafs, who have not been at full health yet this season.

Marner has yet to play a game for new Head Coach Sheldon Keefe. It will be interesting to see how the Markham, Ontario native will be deployed on special teams. Will he reprise his role as one of the Leafs' top penalty killers?

Early rumours have Marner reclaiming his place on the top power play, with Morgan Rielly moving down to the 2nd unit.

The Maple Leafs return to action Tuesday in Philadelphia.

It is unlikely that Marner will return before getting in at least 2 to 3 more full practices.
